Upon arrival, you will check into your Lodge which is at the foot of Costa Rica’s Arenal

La Fortuna is a small town in Costa Rica, northwest of the capital, San José. It’s known as a gateway to Arenal Volcano National Park, comprising 2 volcanoes. Active Arenal Volcano is still laced with lava flows. Hot springs dot the foot of the volcano, on the thermal Tabacón River. Dormant Chato Volcano has a crater lake and rainforest trails leading to La Fortuna Waterfall, with its natural pool.

You stay for 3 Nights will be at the Volcano Lodge & Springs located 10 minutes from La Fortuna, offering comfortable accommodation with Arenal Volcano views and tropical gardens 

With numerous hiking trails and relaxation areas throughout the grounds, guests can enjoy both the natural setting and volcano views, topped off with happy hour specials at either the pool or lobby bar.

Post breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel for an immersive exploration of Costa Ricas famous agricultural products. Your journey begins with a chocolate tour, where you will learn about the history and production process from cacao tree to finished product. You will be able to taste the premium chocolates and make your own treats

Next, we will visit a coffee plantation where you will discover the secrets behind Costa Ricas world renowned coffee. Our guides will walk you through the entire process – from planting to cultivating the coffee seeds to nurturing, harvesting and processing the beans

The experience concludes with a sugar cane tour, where you’ll witness the traditional process of extracting juice from sugar cane and have the opportunity to try it yourself. You’ll learn about this important Costa Rican crop’s history and versatility before we return you to your hotel for overnight

Overnight Arenal

We’ll pick you up from your hotel for a day combining rainforest exploration and waterfall adventure. Your experience begins with a 30-minute drive to the hanging bridges, set within a 620-acre reserve of primary forest. Here, you’ll embark on a 2-mile trail featuring 16 state-of-the-art hanging bridges that introduce you to the forest’s rich biodiversity as you loop through the mountainous area. During your 2.5-hour guided walk, look for wildlife including howler monkeys, poison dart frogs, red frogs, snakes, toucans, and parrots. 

After the bridges, we’ll continue to the stunning La Fortuna Waterfall, which drops 210 feet into a natural swimming pool. You’ll have about an hour to swim in the fresh water and enjoy the surrounding rainforest before having drinks and snacks at the waterfall’s edge. The tour concludes with lunch before returning to your hotel for overnight

Evening, enjoy a city tour by bus

See all the highlights that Costa Rica’s capital has to offer all in one convenient and fun bus tour. Get picked up from your San José hotel and taken to the start point where you will board a double decker bus. Your informative bilingual guide will explain about each of the many cultural attractions you’ll see along the way. You will make stops for explanations and photos at the main historical and cultural attractions of the city like the National Theater, the Central Cathedral and the Central Market, to name just a few. At certain points you will get off the bus and stretch your legs during two brief interactive walks as well. This is not just any city tour! There is real focus on the cultural aspect of Costa Rica as the staff is dressed in traditional clothing and you will enjoy live marimba folk music on board. An onboard waiter will serve you common local beverages as you navigate the city. You’ll also get to listen to “bombas”- a traditional oral folklore depicting various aspects of Costa Rican life. This is a fun and interactive tour appropriate for all ages. Keep in mind there are 2 brief walking sections of the tour but for the majority you will be on the bus. Back to hotel for overnight
